You obviously are ...Ruth, thanks for your comments. You obviously are speaking from experience as well! The comparisons between then and now ARE eye-opening. OK, also squirmy "Oh god did I actually make that?" embarrassing in some cases, but overall that old work validates that I've come a long way. I can almost hear my pristeen white silk bolts whispering to each other, "And thank goodness for that..."Jeanne Raffer Beckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17080286350374492967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8340855682127988960.post-38629673444678351622009-08-26T10:43:41.448-07:002009-08-26T10:43:41.448-07:00I so agree with your entire post and you put is so...I so agree with your entire post and you put is so beautifully. Sometimes it is good to look back over what you have done and where you started. Seeing the progression of your own work is an eye opening experience and as you say, it is a journey, not a place that you're eventually going to arrive "sometime".Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00590247225202589359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8340855682127988960.post-49079978532871614332009-08-26T08:39:27.286-07:002009-08-26T08:39:27.286-07:00Karen, I remember your lovely Asian inspired image...Karen, I remember your lovely Asian inspired imagery at Pro Chem. I'm learning that we never arrive, we are ALWAYS at "the edge." I've said for years that my work is "almost there", like I was on a train that would pull into a station and I'd arrive and STAY in that one place! I am learning that it's a supersized combo of joy and commitment and receptivity that helps us with revising and editing our ideas, imagery and expression -- and a lifelong process. However, we do need to slow down, give ideas time to mature and that takes studio time, quiet, thoughtfulness -- and a smattering of pure, exhilarating boldness!Jeanne Raffer Beckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17080286350374492967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8340855682127988960.post-39246153523279874222009-08-26T08:12:31.813-07:002009-08-26T08:12:31.813-07:00I feel like I'm right on the edge of my meanin...I feel like I'm right on the edge of my meaningful work. I know what I want to do, but I'm having a hard time, using all the techniques I know, to express it. But I'm enjoying the process and I'm doing studio work, soI'm sure it will appear!. The change in your work is so significant and exciting, I'm thrilled to be able to read about it.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12821013559380002293noreply@blogger.com
